    ABSTRACT:
Forty-five states and three United States Territories have adopted the Common Core State Standards (CCSS.)  Now they face the challenge of educating their constituencies on how to use these standards. They have had to consider how the standards will shape their educational practices and curriculum goals for future success in the classroom,  on state wide assessments, and in preparing for college and career.  What are states doing to help schools prepare for this transition and to gauge their readiness for success?  This presentation will look at approaches being implemented by several states and how they are using large scale assessment items to inform and prepare districts and schools for the transition.
