  • NCSA2017--Final Alternate Assessment Presentation _06272017.pdf (2.7 MB)
  • Content Strands:
    1. Best Practices for Accessibility
    2. Critical Issues and Considerations for Assessment Design
This presentation highlights the thinking of two national alternate assessment alignment experts and how they use best practices and lessons learned to systemically think about 1) creating acceptable extended standards and alternate achievement level descriptors from state content standards, 2) acceptable alignment evidence for alternate assessments, 3) contracting with an assessment vendor for alternate assessments, and 4) the necessary processes and protocols that should be requested and considered when a State is contracting for an informative and effective alternate alignment study. The third presenter is an Alabama state specialist who will share how the State planned and managed the development of the new extended standards and descriptors around the state content standards. Additionally, she will discuss how to efficiently move from a portfolio-based assessment to a performance-based assessment tool and select an appropriate alignment study for the Alabama Alternate Assessment (AAA).
